The trend for 2022 is a clean look for a dash of color and a blend of luxury and simplicity. Bring nature indoors with a dash of bold colors, a burst of burnt orange, forest green, or yellow – and larger windows and skylights to bring sunlight in. In 2022, there will be more technology such as voice or touchless appliances and fixtures for the kitchen and bathroom.
The Influence of Remote Work
As many people have been working from home, more rooms will be made larger by either removing a wall or a closet or adding an addition. Spaces under the stairs will be used. Rooms will be more defined like a gym, office or study area, bar area, pantry, or storage area. In the basement, create a home theater with plenty of stylish seating. You can also add a bar or kitchenette nearby.
In the kitchen look for double islands to store items and one maybe used for cooking and the other for prepping food or study area with computer outlets. In lieu of black and white cabinets use walnut or oak stained in grey. Doors have clean lines or a simple slab appearance.
Bathroom Trends
Bathrooms will have a minimalist style with larger showers and dressing areas. Vanities in the bathroom will have flat fronts with medium woods or stains or neutral colors. Look for bolder brighter colors from the gooseneck faucet with gold or brass tones to colorful glass sinks. Ambient, task and accent lighting provide mood and function.
In both the kitchen and bathroom, functional design, simplicity, bold colors and a mixture of color metals and textures are the trends for 2022.
